The Australian government is set to impose Chinese-style Internet censorship by enforcing a universal national filter that will block websites deemed “controversial,” as part of a wider agenda to regulate the Internet according to free speech advocates.
A provision whereby Internet users could opt out of the filter by contacting their ISP has been stripped from the legislation, meaning the filter will be universal and mandatory.

People have misconceptions not because they’re ignorant or they love big government, but because they’ve heard no alternative system proposed. Many areas of our lives have lots of government intervention and many areas have none. Are the areas where government involvement exists better off for it? Perhaps there are areas that aren’t regulated that could use regulations?

I am scared that legislation and policy like this is beginning to be passed around the country while we sit back and yawn. Rochester, Monroe County and New York State need to move quickly to pass legislation that bars corporations, schools, the government or any entity from forcibly microchipping people for any reason. If we don’t block this now, by the time it arrives it will already be too late because it will arrive with a massive propaganda campaign by our local newspapers, radio stations and TV stations. We must act now to protect the liberty and dignity of every …
