rise up Rochester is currently looking for contributors to write articles on a regular or occasional basis. Please send an email to riseuprochester[at]gmail.com or contact one of us through wordpress if you are interested in becoming a contributor.
As a contributor you must:
- Be interested in current events
- Live in Upstate New York or feel like you can contribute in a meaningful way if you don’t (example: you used to live in Rochester or you went to school there)
- Be creative and bring new ideas to the table or be interested in commenting on the ideas of others
- Be interested in taking the movement ‘to the streets’ to do real life reporting, organize events, attend rallies or protests, confront politicians, attend meetings, spread the word OR anything else related. You need not do all of the above, but we want to materialize this movement into the real world eventually.
- Try to connect national issues with their local implications where possible
- Spread the word about the site
- Love freedom and liberty and the benefits they give
- Have an open mind
As a contributor you also:
- Do not have to agree with all viewpoints of other contributors. In fact, you will be encouraged to comment on their articles and state your differences.
- Do not have to commit a huge amount of time. The idea is many hands make light work.
- Do not have to post only negative articles. Positive articles featuring pride in Rochester are encouraged.
- Do not have to feel restricted. We will be reviewing articles for grammar and spelling, correct tags, relevant titles and interesting photos. I am fundamentally opposed to censorship, so articles can express whatever views they wish. The only exception would be contributors that constantly undermine the views of all of the other contributors, in which case I will suggest that you start your own blog. All comments will be posted, whether they agree or disagree with the views in the presented articles.
We want to make talking about politics exciting and fun again for today’s young people in Rochester. Won’t you join us?
Thought this was interesting:

Rochester’s very own Kevin Atoms will be hosting a venue to display progressive political and social art, in conjunction with the “elections” at the end of October and into the “election” week of November. The venue is Method Lab on South Ave, near the equally progressive LUX LOUNGE located on South Ave. Mr. Atoms will be collecting your radical art until the end of September. Rochester is filled with talented and intellectual homegrown revolutionary artists and this is a call out for their participation. Remember, the term Revolution simply means the turning of the wheel and artists are on the vanguard of any good Revolution. To contribute your own Rochester rooted art please contact the esteemed Mr. Atoms at:

Would riseuprochester like to hold a comedy fundraiser? I hope so.
I have at least 15 minutes of political satire I’d like to perform for a live audience. (To be fully appreciated this material needs a politically astute audience member or two.) Another comedian I know can also do political comedy and is willing to perform with me.
Please contact me. I’m not sure who to contact.

I’m all for your work here. Thank you for your time and effort. This country can be great again only through a revolution of thought and action.
