Welcome to rise up Rochester. We are an organization of committed friends with a few common views and a desire to affect change in the Rochester community and our country as a whole. We promote liberty, small government and economic freedom and are dedicated to bringing you the finest articles on these topics.

Here is a message to our fellow college and university students and a lesson on conformity.

Also, below are some of the more important topics and articles that are must-reads if you are new to our site.

To understand our eroding liberties, endless wars oversees and limitless power of our national government one must first understand the attacks of September 11, 2001 and how they effect us to this day.

The terrible state of our economy is attributable to one private entity: the misnamed Federal Reserve banking system. Reading some of our articles on this topic and following the links, especially to Mises.org will provide an understanding of what is happening to the value of the dollar and how that relates to the economy. The most popular article on the site right now is called Hyperinflation, Great Depression II and it relates precisely to this issue.

For articles on local topics check out the Rochester section.

If you’re in the mood for something a little lighter we reccomend the music section.

Worried about Big Brother and the increasing surveillence in the city? Read the article on the surveillence cameras around the city.

One of our specialties is our critique of local media articles, especially from the Democrat and Chronicle and City Newspaper.

    Hello Everyone,
This is a reminder for the final peace walk of the series — please forward to your organizational and congregation lists.

Thanks again to Ben Dean for capturing the spirit and voices of last week’s walk up Hudson Ave to the Irondequoit United Church of Christ: http://rochester.indymedia.org/newswire/display/21670/index.php

Walk with us in the 19th Ward this Saturday (8/23)!

Meet at 1:30pm at Bullshead Plaza near W. Main and Genesee Streets. Or join the 5pm program at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 350 Chili Ave.

All walks end with an evening program and discussion featuring veterans and military families’groups and community voices — this week we will hear from Willie Lightfood Jr. (Desert Storm and Aghanistan veteran, community leader and County Legislator from the neighborhood) as well as Iraq and Afghanistan veteran and leader of the local chapter of Iraq Veterans Against the War, Bryan Casler.

Please see http://www.rochesteragainstwar.org/walksforpeace/index.html to download flyers and brochures.

Thanks and look forward to walking together.
