As a photographer myself, I can personally attest to this shift. I became seriously interested in photography around the time of 9/11 and I have noticed a continual increase in hostility towards using cameras in public areas. As a human and an artist I find this personally degrading. What idiot terrorist would stumble around downtown with thousands in camera gear, photographing buildings of which photographs already exist on Google Images? Below is a post showing an actual propaganda in UK.

Lets start from scratch. Remove all laws and ‘design’ the perfect world.
First we must prevent murder. So anybody committing murder should go to jail or receive the death penalty.
Now we must prevent theft. Anyone found stealing should be punished through fines, or incarceration.
Everyone should receive an education, so lets create public schools open to everyone.
Now that we have created schools, all students SHOULD attend school. After all, the state knows what’s best for the children, not the parents. Anyone disobeying the law will be fined/jailed.

Read this interview with Aldous Huxley, author of A Brave New World, and Mike Wallace. The year was 1958. I found the article on Stumble.
Huxley expanded, in this interview, upon his view that the freedom of individuals all over the world was dissipating and would continue to do so.
Some key points:
“All technology is in itself moral and neutral. These are just powers which can either be used well or ill.”
“the price of freedom is eternal vigilance.”
“Democracy depends on the individual voter making an intelligent and rational choice for what he regards as his enlightened self-interest, in any given circumstance.”

In “Doctors Assail Growing Use of Antipsychotic Drugs for Dementia” NY Times journalist Laurie Tarkan talks about the backlash against antipsychotics in the elderly.
Drugs once thought to calm the aggressive behaviors that some with dementia can have, actually have many side effects and aren’t that effective at all as anti-psychotics. Many doctors are absent from the patient care setting and just prescribe drugs to numb down the elderly so that they sit and drool all day in these nursing homes.
